The Rutland Area Food Co-Op is looking to hire a natural foods Grocery Manager. Purpose: To ensure that the Grocery department meets sales, margin, and inventory turns goals; to manage relationships with vendors by negotiating pricing, delivery, and payment terms; to serve as the direct contact for promotional programs; and to create a hospitable environment that welcomes coworkers, customers, owners, and members of the community. Responsibilities: CUSTOMER SERVICE Assist customers with product questions in a prompt, and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary. Knowledgeable about all Grocery products. Help customers place special orders. Receives customer product requests. DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE Coordinate storage of items and replenish shelves as needed. Ensure that retail and storage areas are clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards. Prepare for and ensure accuracy of inventory counts. MERCHANDISING Ensure shelves are fully stocked and rotated to ensure freshness. Ensure displays and shelves are clean, well-organized, and aesthetically pleasing. Ensure endcaps are displayed and rotated on a regular basis. Establish and uphold standards and procedures of receiving, stocking and storing of Grocery product line. Supports all relevant promotional vehicles (BASICS program, Coop Deals, in-store sales, member sales, etc.). PURCHASING & PLANNING Serves as National Cooperative Grocers (NCG) Promotions Liaison. Replenishment Buyer for Grocery Product Line (does NOT include meat, cheese, refrigerated, frozen or bulk) Communicate sales plans with Marketing staff. Ensure all end-caps are planned and merchandised for all sales periods. Coordinate special sales and promotions with reps, smaller distributors, small vendors. Monitor purchases to ensure adherence to budget. CATEGORY MANAGEMENT Follow margin and pricing strategies for Grocery product line. Work alongside the General Manager to ensure product selection is on trend and in demand. Track sales, margins, and performance of Grocery Product line.   OTHER Opportunity (no obligation) to attend NCG meetings/conferences as well as trade shows if desired. Finance Manager

Finance Manager  Reports to:  General Manager Full Time Salaried Exempt Supervises:  Accounting/Payroll Coordinator, Accounts Payable Clerks, Payroll Coordinator, Bookkeeper, and Depositors Purpose: To manage Hunger Mountain Co-op’s finances and accounting in accordance with GAAP. To provide financial information, projections, and analysis to the Council and management team. To oversee the preparation of business plans and budgets. To establish and manage internal controls and reporting procedures in support of Co-op objectives and protect its assets.   Job Responsibilities   Customer Service Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers, including all employees and employment candidates.   Financial Management and Planning   Assist in the formulation of the co-op’s strategic plan and tactical initiatives. Participate in key decisions as a member of the senior management team. Develop performance measures that support the co-op’s strategic direction. Develop financial and tax strategies. Manage all financial and treasury functions. Sit as a member of the 401(K)-advisory committee. Oversee the issuance of timely, accurate quarterly financial statements and analysis for the Council, Lenders, Affiliates, and management team including Balance Sheet, Statements of Income and Cash flows, department margin, and operating P & L. Monitor performance compared to plan and work with managers to improve performance. Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly sales, and variance reports for managers and buyers. Orchestrate the preparation of the annual operating and capital expenditure budget process. Build a model for annual rolling three-year financial Pro forma statements, including balance sheet and cash flows. Ensure that all quarterly/yearly taxes are filed and paid when due. Prepare and Manage cash flow analysis to maintain appropriate levels of liquidity. Seek out, negotiate, and recommend favorable financing options for co-op operations. Manage the co-op’s cash within the investment policy guidelines set by the Council to maximize interest revenue. Function as liaison with financial institutions and ensure timely and accurate reporting of the required information. Monitor reporting requirements.   Accounting   Establish accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP and Co-op accounting. Ensure proper Internal Controls. Manage the Finance Department staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all accounting transactions, including but not limited to cash receipts, AR, AP, payroll, and AJEs. Maintain monthly reconciliation of the GL/Trial Balance and subsidiary ledgers. Oversee process to ensure the accurate and timely period-end close. Negotiate payment schedules with vendors as needed. Maintain accurate and current fixed asset schedule. Coordinate the co-op’s annual audits review with the outside CPA firm. Establish standards of accuracy for cashiers in handling money and advise and coordinate with the Front-End Manager to ensure implementation. Oversee the supervision of the daily activities of the cash room. Assure security and backup of all accounting data. In conjunction with IT and Operations managers, oversee the company’s transaction processing systems. Establish and supervise appropriate purchasing procedures. Oversee periodic inventory counts; ensure accuracy and make periodic adjustments.   Personnel Hire qualified applicants following established policy. Provide appropriate training for the Finance Department staff. Schedule staff within budgets and at appropriate levels to maintain support for the Co-op’s mission. Conduct timely staff performance evaluations. Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager.   Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years’ experience and a bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting or related field required, MBA and or CPA preferred. Working Knowledge of GAAP. Computer literate and experience with Acumatica ERC software; strong Microsoft Excel skills, and knowledge of Microsoft 365 required. Ability to interpret financial reports for non-accounts. Experience in developing financial projections and budget models. Negotiating experience. Strong supervisory skills. Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments. Accurate, organized, and meticulous about details. Ability to cultivate a supportive and collaborative work environment. Able to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures of Hunger Mountain Co-op.
